Lilian Lai grew up and was educated in Malaysia, where she trained formally as a graphics artist. On graduation, she worked in a local greeting card company as a Production Manager and Creative Director. She later migrated to Sydney, Australia and has been living and working there since.
Working as a Graphic Artist was very interesting, but it was only later that I found my true passion for painting and art.
Living in Australia has afforded her many opportunities to develop her interests and hobbies, particularly that of painting. Lilian briefly experimented with the mediums of watercolours and batik before finding a calling in Chinese Ink Painting, in all it’s various forms.
I am largely self-taught while picking up much from my fellow artists over the years. I love to continue exploring new methods while keeping the old.
Currently, she is an active member of the Australian Chinese Painting Society, and participates and helps coordinate various events and exhibitions for the society, as well as entering local art competitions.
